Class 03:
Summary: I hope everyone had a pleasant Golden Week! There are some troubles with Zoom, so I am not able to make a poll again in class today. The edit function is not working, but at least today the account is paid.
First, we settled in and continued to work on the Academic Essay Writing Survey (attached) to make sure you knew more about the key concepts and terms. To help visualize the terms, you also viewed a final draft of an APA paper a former student wrote after five drafts with my feedback.
Then, you got into groups and pairs. and discussed the homework that you took notes on about your issue that you will write a paper. You used the 'Useful Engish' attachment to give and receive opinions. When the other student is speaking about their issue, please ask them questions.
Lastly, we discussed the homework a second time for the next class.
Homework due in class on 05/12/2020:
1. Please, research the SAME research issue using the Internet, book, newspaper, or journal articles about the same issue. Then take three to four pages of notes for each article using the keywords. Each time you make a direct quotation, please note the page number or paragraph of the citation. Try to paraphrase and use keywords rather than sentences, so that you can speak with your research pair in our upcoming breakout rooms on Zoom.
When you email me your notes, can you scan one copy? And label the document with your name and Class 03 homework? Or drop and drag the photos of your notes in one email? NOT in six or seven separate attachments. This will save me time because I have 30 students that write papers. If everyone sends me five attachments separately, I must download and label over 100 documents per week.
Also, please send me the links to your resources in each email so I can help you format your references.
Two Note-taking Samples on Motivation and Language Learning Issue:
