Session 3 on 10/16/2015: TOEIC Part 5 & 30 Second Talks

Summary: At first, you learned about the safety emergency drill that will be held in our class on Session 4. Then, at your table group you enthusiastically participated in the 30-second Talks game published by Scholastic Inc. in the Timesaver Speaking Activities book. It was interesting to hear you 30-second opinions in English. After that, you studied the vocabulary for unit 12, which is part 5 of the TOIEC test. Then you took that quiz with the interactive whiteboard and the powerpoint slide show for B mini-test. We tried the reading aloud to hear the answer TOEIC tip. Lastly, you wrote your reflections about this session. 

Homework due on 10/23/2015:

1. After studying the TOEIC tips unit 6 at the outer columns of the text, take the please do Mini-Test B, Unit 13, p. 69-72:  Text Completion section from numbers 1 to 12, by keeping the TOEIC Tips for part 6 in mind. Then write down your reflections in  your Listening and Reading Log for entry #3 in this format:

Plan: Which day, which practice task and how long?  Reflections: What did you do? How long for? What did you notice? How did you feel? New listening or reading goals?

TOEIC  TEST  Tips Part 6 (by Grant Trew):

• Choose the correct verb form
• Sometimes the sentence is not enough information to choose the correct answer. In that case read the rest of the text to find your answer.
• Learn suffixes to help you identify the adjectives and adverbs
• Understand the use of comparatives and superlative form of adjectives.
