Class 04Implications from L2 Self System Research

Summary: First, we learned about how to complete your four-skills logs for 20 hours of English studies of your choice by the end of our class. You can study this assignment at your own pace, and not only use the language learning websites attached on our class page, but also other English resources you choose. Second, you watched the ERC Online video to learn how you can create an account and join the ERC by Zoom for English conversation Monday to Thursday from 3 to 5 PM. Third, I explained the poster about the L2 self system replication study and the previous study about the students' attitudes towards learning English. Fourth, then you went to break out rooms and you discussed the poster based on the notes you took. Absent students, please watch the Zoom recording, and try to catch up with the homework.

Homework due 10/11/2020 at 5 PM before Class 05:

1. Complete at least two hours or more of your self-study in your Four-Skills Log. Please answer the questions completely:

Which day, which practice task, and how long?  Reflections: What did you do? How long for? What did you notice? How did you feel? New speaking or listening goals?

2. Please read and take notes on pages 3-12 of the article.
We will read this study in the link below, which is the same as the poster slowly over two classes, and this study is about University students' motivation. Please take pictures of your notes and put them in the Class 04 Word document and send the attachment by Sunday, October 11th at 5 PM. You do not have to understand everything, and ask me questions anytime you have them.
